Trevor Dickinson moved to Newcastle from London in 2002.
As a way of connecting with his new home he started to explore the Newcastle’s streets with his sketchpad and pen, drawing those aspects of the environment that felt most foreign to him. Through projects such as drawing ‘100 Letterboxes of Newcastle’, this observational process developed into a full-time practice. Trevor has gone on to extend his work from Newcastle to Canberra and Sydney, working in media as diverse as large-scale murals to screen-printing.
In 2012 Trevor spent six weeks as the printmaker in residence at Canberra‘s Megalo Print studio and gallery. The prints he produced at Megalo formed the basis of his “Greetings from Canberra” range of prints and related products that can now be found in many galleries and shops around Canberra.
In 2015 Trevor began the project, ‘Greetings from Maitland’, a series of drawings and digital prints that form a unique and personal portrait of the historic town. The collection was exhibited and Purchased by Maitland Regional Art Gallery in late 2016.
Trevor‘s ongoing series of drawings “Beautiful Bus Shelters of Canberra” will Be exhibited in Canberra Museum and Gallery in October 2018
